Telegram Finally Launches Private Testing for its Telegram Open Network (TON), Records High-Speed Transactions

Vedomosti – Russian media outlet reported that Telegram has launched private beta testing for its Telegram Open Network. Russian devs and several other development teams from around the globe have been granted access for testing.

Final results are yet to arrive but sources report, some unknown testers were granted access to set up TON Blockchain nodes and TON proved to be performing transactions much faster if compared to network’s competitors.

However, since the blockchain is in the testing phase, the specific indicators could not be delivered, one of the testers has said.

Based on cryptographically encrypted distributed registries, the Telegram Open Network gives competition to Ethereum for the launch and execution of smart contracts and decentralized applications.

In January, The Bell – Russian media outlet reported that TON was ready as much as 90% and the project’s developers were targeting early 2019 as a launch date. Though, due to the innovative nature of the project, a slight delay of two-three months was possible – the team noted.

Telegram was founded by the brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov in 2013, the Privacy-focused encrypted messenger recorded 200 million active users in March 2018. Its messaging service serves as a great alternative to those who are concerned over user data leaks on Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.

$1.7 Billion was raised by Telegram for both Telegram and its TON platform through Private Initial Coin Offering (ICO) in 2018.
